Happy new year, everyone! 2011 has finally come, and while you make good propositions for the future I want to be more sensible and announce something that's almost certain: a new beta version of AiDaNews 2.0 is coming soon (read: before the end of the week, alas 11-1-11). AiDaNews 2.0 beta 2 will be released on the site (and not on GoogleCode only as beta1) as I really believe that the module is overall pretty stable. I've been pretty busy correcting some nasty bugs before Christmas, and after some vacation I finally got back to work and added some new features. You can still keep track of my progress on the previous article, and I'll upload the latest version on GoogleCode's SVN as soon as possible.

I pratically finished coding the com_content / FLEXIcontent version of the module - for what concerns my plans for beta2 - and I'll take the rest of the week to port all the missing features to the K2 version so that it isn't left behind. As soon as I've done this you'll be able to see two new downloads on the homepage .

So... what's missing before I can call this version stable? Well, full FLEXIcontent fields support, a more flexible Image Folder Management and some adjustments on the overall code structure... even though I think I won't completely adopt the MVC pattern so that you'll be able to override the module's behaviour in your templates if needed. Expect a beta3 after my exams (beginning of march), and I'd like to close this project before the end of april. I'll still keep an eye on the site and write documentation, but anyway no big new features will be added and I'll only release some bugfixes if needed. This because I want to move on to some other projects, not necessarily Joomla-related... but I'll see when I'll have some time to spend on it. For now, keep an eye on the site as something new is bound to appear this week!
