I'd like to say I'm sorry if some features I announced previously weren't functional before v 2.0.7 - I work by myself, nobody counterchecks what I write and sometimes I work on the code in the main file but I forget adding the options in the backend, or the lines in the language file. This time I managed to help myself with some scraps of paper, a txt file and a bit of luck - anyway I'm sure I have left some other error in there. I actually know I screwed up the changelogs a bit, but hey, I didn't want to repack everything as it's getting kinda late and tomorrow morning I'm busy :) Don't think anyone is going to be upset about those, anyway. I don't even know if any of you reads them! Ok, so after the random thoughts, here's some juicy news: next AiDaNews2 version will be 2.1.0 (I actually wanted this one to get that number, but then I delayed some bigger things...). This version number is pretty important, as it indicates some big additions to the module. First of all, I'm going to change the PHP class that lets the module create the thumbnails, as this one often creates problems if the images are linked in strange ways. I'll test things thoroughly hoping this change will lead to more versatility, but I believe that PHP5 will remain a must (it's required already, so if you run AiDaNews2 now nothing will change). Then I'm going to implement a way of deciding which news to display in the module, a sort of "Sticky Articles" function that was requested by many some time ago. This may take a while, as I actually don't know how to make the selection practical - I don't want an enormous scroll-list, but a simple ID input isn't accepted either. I'll think about it and find out a solution. Then, last but not least, I'm going to test some other things such as pagination with javascript. I still haven't learnt the language, but implementing something written by other should require little to no knowledge of the actual thing so it shouldn't take too long. I hope. Don't stop writing, though! I'll keep an eye on the forums and comments (and e-mails of course!), so keep your ideas and fixes coming! I'll release an halfway-through version if necessary (2.0.8?), but I hope it won't be needed. Anyway, I'd like keeping a monthly release schedule (as I managed to do this month, yay!), so v 2.1.0 should be available before Christmas. I haven't worked on the FLEXIcontent version yet, but I'm going to, as I'm going to work on K2 for 1.7, but well I'll need to make everything fit and that's not easy! :) Well, let's wrap this up: I hope you like the update notifier, I hope the update is stable enough and that it contains useful options for your websites! I'll be back soon ;) |

After almost a month of hard(?) work, here's an upgrade for AiDaNews2. As you may have read, I corrected and added many little things that some of you reported on the forums, in the comments or via e-mail and I also added some features many f you probably didn't know they wanted. But well, once you're at work on some chuck of code, you can't help but correct any error it comes to your attention.
