Description

AiDaNews is back! AiDaNews2 is the next step in the direction of an easy and versatile Joomla! Module that lets everyone, from experts to novice webmasters, show their articles in an appealing and higly-customisable way.

The module has been rewritten from scratch starting from Joomla!'s own latestnews module, and this rework resulted in a much more elegant and lightweight code. Now AiDaNews follows the MVC pattern (so the articles are retrieved in an helper file and displayed using a template file), passes the W3C code check without an error, uses CSS files instead of style tags (but mantains the possibility of styling the module right from the backend!), has CSS classes for every element (and even special classes for first/last element and such) and is overall a much more reliable and correct module from the point of view of the code.

This isn't only a 'debug' though: AiDaNews2 has lots of new features that will make the users' life easier. Pre-made styles will rapidly make the module match every kind of site, and will allow experts to create their own configurations that can be shared between groups of modules making manteinance easier. Layout positions have been extended from 5 to 9, and their appearance and position can be changed through css with endless possibilities. The module now uses a css file, but css can also be inserted from the module's backend (and you can even use a css file and then add some additional CSS rules for each individual istance). The module's backend has been slightly modified to be easier to navigate: tabs have been divided into categories, and their titles are now more descriptive. The module contains many more additions: secondary ordering, up to three images that can be individually linked to articles, profiles, categories and so on, tableless grid layout... and all the options that made AiDaNews so peculiar.

So here's AiDaNews2: a complete debug and adjustment of the first iteration of the module, with the addition of many useful options that will satisfy any need. Everything with the simplicity of descriptive tips right in the backend, or (finally!) the possibility to read through a huge amount of FAQs and explanations in the Module's Documentation on Aimini.it.

Hi Danilo, looks a great ext for me. question for you is:
I on j1.7 and have K2 also and standard Joomla articles. I understand this version if only for joomla articles, however, the K2 version is only for j1.5.

Does this mean that this extension does not touch or work with my K2 items?

No, this version only works with standard Joomla! Articles. A K2 version for Joomla! 1.7/2.5 is coming soon though ;)

Thank you for a great module. I only have two questions:
1: How do I get some space between the image and the main text?
2: How do i specify a default image?

Hi,
1: simply edit the default.css file to suit your needs. Make sure you rename it and select it in the module's backend, so that it doesn't get overwritten with updates.
2: dafault images are in the module's folder.

Using sigplus module it's possible to add attributes to tag, like {gallery rows=1 cols=1}..{/gallery}. If attributes are written AiDaNews2 ignore {gallery} tag.

Yes, it is a plugin called sigplus and needs a tag like {gallery}! That would be wonderful :D

sigplus is already supported :D Go to the Image 1 tab and insert the ordered list of images you would like to display ;) there's a gallery option!

Thank you for your reply! I found the problem, in the helper.php directory line 138--> $fold = 'images/'stories . '/' . $gal; I didn't have this 'stories' file , so I deleted stories and now I have the photos beautifully in the module :)

Mmh I'll add a field in the module's backend for this :)

Hi Danilo,

I'm a newbie in joomla, now working on a new design for my company website, i want to make 2 columns in single article, when i try to install aidanews2 extensions, i got error (sorry i forgot to notes the errors) but i try it once again, it's successfully add, and aidanews added in modules manager.
is this OK, cause there was error when i try it on first attemp?

sorry if my english not good

Thank u
rusydi

Well, without knowing what the error was I cannot guarantee much, but sometimes errors show up because servers have really small downtimes, or the internet connection loses stability while uploading the file. I'm pretty sure you can use the module without worrying about this much - report me any problem you encounter though and I'll try to help you :D
